I think that more people should watch this movie. This is what Suicide Squad should have been. It fleshes out Harley as more of a well rounded character and not just a sex object. The color palet is refreshing and I hope that more films adopt it. I want to see more films with Harley as a stand alone sans Joker. Ewan steals every scene he is in. do yourself a favor and watch it

The movie was fun to watch from start to finish and it had a lot of action but every minute of it was entertaining. It was also an inspiring movie about how one can be independent but also be nice to people despite the harsh realities of life. The acting was good and it also depicted the social bias and discrimination of women at work. The movie showed a lot of grim situation but still managed to make us smile.

Yan's quick cutting narrative employs a whacky tone with a 'Kill Bill' streak of orchestrated, crunchily choreographed violence. Impressively colourful and incendiary action set-pieces with a playful, energetic vibe lend this film the ambience, verve and edge that Suicide Squad lacked. Of course, the ambition here is to set up a believable multi-faceted all-girl gang of ace warriors and so there's quite a bit of character development thrown into the mix. Birds of Prey has a high-on-drugs demented vibe that is imminently catchy. The camera work, vibrancy of the colour palette, the highly effective slow-mo inserts lend clarity and coherence to this celebration of dysfunctions. While McGregor bites into his role with relish it is Margot Robbie as Harley who appears to be having the most fun. She is undoubtedly the best and most entertaining part of Birds of Prey. Yan, of course, must be given due credit for lifting this comic-cinema-universe out of the doldrums.

The race between the 2 big movie franchises (the MCU & the DCU) begins this year w/Margot Robie's first solo outing in this Harley Quinn misadventure. She's broken up w/the joker (destroying Chemical labs, where she was christens, as a overture for their break-up) but also sending flags to all the parties she has abused & misaligned over the years that she's now fair game. Black Mask & Victor Zsasz (played by Ewan McGregor & Chris Messina as gay tinged psychopaths) take the lead in this front but a complication arises when a precious gem Messina was in the middle of transporting is lifted by a pickpocket, played by Ella Jay Basco, which prompts McGregor to assign Robie to get back (made even more complicated since Basco is now in police custody). What follows is a falling together of a ragtag outfit, which includes Rosie Perez's Detective Montoya, Jurnee Smollet-Bell's Black Canary & Mary Elizabeth Winstead's Huntress to protect the wayward waif & survive the onslaught the Black Mask has in store for them. To parrot the duo from the Double Toasted youtube series, this film got right what the Suicide Squad got wrong. Anarchic, over the top, bloody & not a politically correct bone in its body, this film (which reminded me a lot of 1995's Tank Girl) wins the day w/its 'oh yeah, watch this!' ethos w/the singular Robie (for good or ill in a role which may be linked to her for the rest of days) commanding attention whenever she's on camera (which is a lot) w/the supporting players inking their spots to perfection. Well done! Look for comedienne Ali Wong in a nice straight turn as a DA here.

Birds of Prey is a highly entertaining action film that is clearly not for kids. For the first time, you get to see Harley Quinn's real bat and hammer action with blood. Margot Robbie is such a fine actress, that I believe she was born to play this role. Her performance as a witty action (anti)heroine is nothing but flawless. I really can't wait to see her in this role again, and for now, this film has left me satisfied. Birds of Prey can be compared more with John Wick or The Equalizer instead of Superman or Batman. This is the best female action movie I've seen till date, and I'm not kidding. You get loads of action, a good amount of humor and a ton of memorable characters. I thought Mary Elizabeth Winstead was excellent as the Huntress, and clearly my second favorite after Harley Quinn in this film. Every action film about a team tends to have at least one tough and serious character and Huntress is that. Harley, however, is a mix of both tough and sweet: presented in a way that you just can't hate her. All actors and actresses were truly awesome throughout the film, including Ewan McGregor. The action is the biggest highlight of this film, and is possibly the best action in a DC movie till date. It uses slow-motion and camera angles brilliantly, and its raw nature is the real icing on the cake. If you like action movies based on comic book characters and are an adult, check it out with a tub of popcorn. There's something really charming about the film's visuals, and it actually feels like a comic book has come alive. Birds of Prey, in simple words, is an exhilarating action film that is a must watch for anyone who's into action movies and DC comics. Just make sure kids don't see it, because it really has mature content that isn't meant for them.

On the scale of damage that a devil-doll superheroine can cause, breaking a man’s legs doesn’t sound all that extreme. Yet when Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), the vengeful sister-of-mayhem in “Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn),” breaks legs, she does it with a certain hellbent je ne sais quoi. It first happens at the nightclub owned by Roman Sionis (Ewan McGregor), a Gotham City crime lord, where Harley, having recently broken up with the Joker, is letting loose (not that she has any particularly more restrained mode), testing out her new identity as an unhinged singleton. Roman’s driver tries to lure her into some vicious flirtation by calling her “dumb” and a “slut,” and as anyone who knows Harley knows all too well, it’s the dumb part that really stings. So she leaps from a stage, crashing down onto his outstretched legs. Bam!! That’s not just a violent counterattack, it’s a 21st-century feminist moment.

Great film! They finally did Harley Quinn justice. Huntress, Montoya and Canary were all amazing. My only criticism was Huntress wasn’t developed more, but she was still the coolest most badass character I’ve seen in years. On a real note, I’m happy they didn’t give the ladies skimpy outfits and relied on their skills and natural energy to be attractive. It was good to see Harley having a great time. Also if you’re gonna bust this movie for making the girls “less hot”, relax and go spend some time to reflect on yourself. This movie certainly was one of the best comic book films I’ve seen in a long time. No one could do Harley better then Margot Robbie.

Unexpectedly outstanding!!! Margot Robbie steals the show with her portrayal of Harley Quinn and is the true incarnation of the character. It felt empowering, action-packed, funny, and showed us a different more lovable side to Harley Quinn. I expect a sequel and will definitely see that too!

Margot robbie was made for the role of Harley Quinn. She has that voice, the perfect balance of sanity and insanity, and she is very good at showing the humorous side of harley but she also brought in the emotional aspect as well. The other characters were also great. Black canary, Huntress, Renee montoya and Cassandra cain also brought in the great action and fun moments. I wish i got a little more of them, like their backstories and such, but i enjoyed them nonetheless. Also, the soundtrack is pretty epic, so props to everyone who was involved in making the soundtrack. Overall Birds of prey is a must watch!

Birds Of Prey is what Suicide Squad should have been.. (Hope the sequel is). A Bunch of badass females kicking ass... sounds like yeah..so? But this one is the best of the lot. There have been all female caste reboots and many similar attempts some good many just average, but this one has truly broken the barrier, the absolute 'emanicipation' has been done. I loved how the entire movie is just chaotic and in a good way. There is no 'Ok let's make a team to fight the bad guys' but that happens just out of chaos and good/ bad decisions by the leads. The DC universe always had better villains or anti- heroes then heroes I feel and this one puts them back in the game. Margot Robbie is just nailing everything that's coming her way and I don't think Hollywood ever had such a powerful actress. Also, on a side note, I so wished that 'Rosa Diaz' from Brooklyn 99 should have been the Huntress.. just a feel. It's a total entertainer that should not be missed.

Super fun movie! Very violent (not for kiddies, sorry) but it was fun! Jokes were hilarious, some were in your face, others were subtle and easy to miss, very well done with showcasing Harley's trauma from her past in a subtle inobvious manner throughout the movie. It was nice seeing what shes been through peeking through her loud persona here and there, in ways that werent actually showcased for the scenes too. In that way, it's very sad given the life shes had and how she downplays it despite it very very clearly affecting her. It isnt a sad movie though, it's very upbeat and action-packed, the action is incredible, very well choreographed, and great to watch. Ends on a great note, too. Loved the stunts! Harley's subtle visible character growth gives me hope for a sequel. Theres a lot of subtlety in the movie actually, which surprised me. Little things you almost miss because something else is the focus. Which is extra fun looking back on because one of the characters straight up says that in regards to something else. (Trying not to spoiler) I wanted to see this movie for a few reasons, but this blew my expectations of it out of the water. I didnt expect it to be this good. I loved all the main characters and what was done with them, their pasts and how it links them together. Incredible acting on everyone's part as well. Very well done. I really enjoyed it. It's a fun movie with a lot of violence and really fun characters! Theres both real violence and cartoony/unrealistic violence which is incredibly fun in a movie starring a character originally created for an animated show, such a good nod to her origins! You really dont know which way something will swing when theres both so theres humor in that thatll catch you off guard as well. I think fun is a great way to describe this movie tbh. I cant wait to see the next one!! Definitely want to see this one a second time for sure!

Two days ago I went to see this movie and I sincerely enjoyed it all. I was waiting for the movie to release when I was feeling quite excited. This movie is the story of Harley Quinn. The movie shows Harley Quinn's relationship with the Joker ends. And she joins superheroes to save a young girl from an evil. Everyone loves superhero movies. This movie will also look pretty. Action Sequence is well shown. Animation, graphics, direction, music is almost always good in this movie. Director Cathy Yan has directed the movie very efficiently. In my opinion, the movie should be watched as soon as possible with everyone who loves superhero movies. My rating: Plot - 4/5 Soundtrack - 4/5 Characters - 4/5 Directions - 4/5

Margot Robbie definitely steals the show from her co-stars, but that doesn't make the film any less enjoyable. It's packed with fight scenes that are over the top in the best way, raunchy comedy that no child should ever hear, and one hell of an egg sandwich. The cast and acting was phenomenal and honestly the shots were fantastic, very visually pleasing and aesthetic. Overall the movie was extremely underwhelming.

Incredible! It's definitely a hidden gem, I can't believe how underrated it is. Let me just say that I did not know what to expect from this movie at all but I was pleasantly surprised when I left the theater, and had a smile on my face from beginning to end. It's a fun and action-packed movie from top to bottom, with exceptional comedy and amazing characters. Huntress and Black Canary were WAY more badass than I ever could've imagined them on the big screen, and both have their own moments on screen. The one who stole the whole show, however, was of course Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn. It's amazing to see how her character has developed, and let me just say: your love for her will only grow after watching this movie. 100% worth the watch! Great job to Cathy Yan and the entire cast and crew for such a lovely movie.

Well made film with wit and nicely choreographed action sequences. Margot Robbie was too good in Harley Quinn character and other supporting characters are well written and directed. Crisp runtime helps in films elevations but overall birds of prey entertains us but not completely. Some what more rune time could have been made it a super hit.

Murali posted a review for Birds of Prey in Movies
The film may take its title from DC’s crime-fighting superhero crew, but it’s Harley’s show. And, reprising the role from Suicide Squad, Margot Robbie goes full tilt at the character, armed with a baseball bat and a tray of shots. With her trademark brand of fizzing, colour-popping Quinn-sanity, it’s fair to say that she is more than a match for her former beau in the crazy-town stakes. But she makes madness seem a whole lot more fun than Joker ever did. She’s a loose cannon blasting glitter bombs and coloured smoke. There are unreliable narrators. And then there’s Quinn, whose pinball machine of a mind rattles around the timeline of the story she is trying to piece together. Screenwriter Christina Hodson smartly taps into Harley’s firecracker attention span and harnesses it as a storytelling device.

Contrary to the reviews,I loved the movie. Cathy Yan and Margot Robbie deserve an applause. You may not find the story a new one but you will enjoy the Harley Quinn act and way she is trying to stand up on her own after the breakup with Mr.J. Visuals are great and Black Canary and The CrossBow Killer Err,Huntress are great. Expected a lot more from Black mask. He is good but something's missing. Overall a great movie for the weekend. Highly recommended!

I liked this movie..it was fun..even though I am not into comedy..and not into foul language..Birds of Prey was well worth it's movie ticket..I don't think many girls can do such a good job at playing Harley Quinn and keeping that up for nearly two hours. Harley Quinn to my view comes across as a pretty little blonde who seemed a combination of tank girl and Deadpool in female form.

Saw the movie yesterday. I would say it is a nice one Time watch but overall nothing too exciting for me. The movie started a little confusing and kind of slow story wise but it picked up the pace from the 2/3. The fight scenes are nice and hilarious. Would have expected a more entertaining final fight scene because of the previous fight scenes but overall a good watch.

I am a huge fan of Suicide Squad and Margot nailed Harley Quinn. So if Barb Wire and a really bad circus had a baby it would be Birds of Prey. The cast had no magic and the fight scenes were just plain ridiculous. I know this wasn't supposed to be an academy award movie but I expected a lot more from the writers and directors. Save your money and if your really bored and are tired watching grass grow rent it and watch it while you play on your IPad. Sorry, Margot save your career and stay away from any sequels down this road.

This movie failed on every level for me. The action scenes were somewhat decent, but the editing is on par with Suicide Squad at times. The story is told out of order, which would work if it had an interesting one. The portrayal of the characters was somewhat adequate, but the focus on Harley just showed how insecure this chick is about her career. I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone with reasonable standards.

Margot Robbie is still great despite the material, and I really enjoyed Mary Elizabeth Winatead's caricature of a super serious dark hero, but besides those this movie just isn't that interesting. The action was lacking and uninspired as well. It relied way too much on slow-mo fights or just too much going on to really understand it all. You know you have a poorly made fight sequence when they decide to use slow motion on every punch or hit to make it seem cooler than it is.

While Margot Robbie is a good Harley Quinn, the character was not given enough arc. The plot was predictable and mainstream, especially due to lack of a strong antagonist. The main antagonist, played by Ewan McGregor, was not developed and hence did not add significant value to the plot story. Although some of the fight scenes were entertaining, the film as a whole was truly forgettable.

BIRDS OF PREY is a bright and insane world. While it took a bit for me to appreciate the grandiose display of exaggerated violence intermixed with a bit of reality, it became harder and harder to resist as its less than two hour run time went on. Once you get used to the hyper stylized storytelling and direction, you'll find much to enjoy here. Robbie is a wonder as Harley Quinn, and she manages to bring a glorious sense of fun to her morally questionable and selfish anti-hero. While the violence doesn't necessarily seem like it deserves an R-rating , aside from a scene or two , the energy that Director: Cathy Yan creates manages to make this all work in the end. It's certainly not perfect, but with a ton of bright spots - including an ode to Marilyn Monroe. Self-aware, in your face and refusing to apologise for it, D.C., and Harley herself, have hit another home run. The birds of prey and girl power are alive and viciously kicking.
